Tips & Advice On Dealing With Food Intolerances

About food allergy –Baby of 9 months old just showed the first sign of food allergy. I thought it must be?

an egg yolk. She just tried it for 2 meals for consecutive days. Her skin just developed some red spots, but it has not turned to be a big red patch or make her feel itchy or bother her yet. Do I need to do anything else at this stage besides stopping giving her the suspect food and see. Also, if she can't have egg yolk at this time, would she outgrow it and being able to take it in the future with no allergy when she grows up? Thanks.

My 7 month old son is allergic to eggs. Yes, it sounds like an egg allergy. Just keep her away from eggs. The egg white actually is more of an allergy problem then the yolk, so make sure you keep her away from both. Plus keep her away from mayonaise and any other product that might have egg in it.

My son's allergist says that 85% of kids outgrow their egg allergy by 3, and that 95% outgrow it eventually. She says the best way to make sure they outgrow it is to make sure they never have ANY exposure at all to eggs so watch your ingredients carefully in bread, cookies, etc. They may have eggs in them.

Sounds like your daughter has a great chance to outgrow her allergy. Also, if you are breastfeeding, make sure that you too have no eggs in your diet. If she's on formula, there are no worries.

has anyone ever done an elimination diet to try and figure out food intolerances?

I believe (as well as my naturopath) that I have food intolerances. Unfortunately I can't afford the testing. I have already started a food journal to see if I can figure out a certain food or whatever that is causing my symptoms but I haven't been doing it long enough yet. Once I have journaled long enough and I see that maybe I have ate a certain food both times my symptoms have started, do I just cut out that food for 4 weeks and see if my symptoms disappear or what is the best way to figure this out?

Look for foods you crave. Eat good food with minimal processing, let the individually packaged junk food industry survive without you maybe they will eventually convert.

Don't eat food if it doesn't look good or seem appealling even if convenient.

Check the lables of the crap you eat but really didn't want to, listen to your body. There is so much sulphur and sodium in food these daze it's not hard to get an OD on it when you don't know half the crap you eat.

Severe food intolerance?

i am at a loss. my girl papillon whom i have had for 3 years has SEVERE food intolerance. she has been on and off (mostly on) steroids the entire time trying to get her bowel disease under control. she has been on venison, duck, rabbit, bison, commercial vegetarian, black beans and sweet potatoes, and now emu and millet.

every time we have tried to ween her off the steroids, she vomits. when she is on them she is fine. she is currently seeing an internist and a holistic vet. we recently changed her diet to emu and millet because she stopped eating the black beans and sweet potatoes. it was a sudden diet change because she had stoped eating. she has been on the new diet for 5 days and started having diarrhea 2 days ago. her internist thinks the diarrhea is because her bowel disease is still not controlled but in the past when she has immediatley reacted to a food she vomited. her current therapies include budesonide 1mg, prilosec 5mg, an herbal concoction
that is from her holistic vet, and now metronidazole (added today by internist).

has anyone else delt with severe food intolerance? our goal is to get her off the steroids for good.
the holistic vet we are using is very known and is an excellent doctor. she was tolerating the black beans and sweet potatoes just fine but she stopped eating it. as in did not want it anymore, would only pick at it…

yes, she has had extensive blood work run, has been tested for cushings, has had a tli, pli, b12, folate, has been endoscoped, had intestinal biopsies done, xrays, ultrasounds, fecals…you name it she has had it.

i started taking her to the holistic vet only a little over a month ago to see if we were missing anything in my dogs treatment.
also, we have tried raw diets with her. no luck.

hi Bob,
First off let me tell you I had to let my lovely girl go to doggie
heaven 27.10.07 after the tumour had grown to much..
anyway aside from the food intolerance have you some how (don't know how) checked her emotional side I feel that she frets alot which also maybe upsetting her system, she feels like she is a soul that needs a lot of attention to feel happy.
Don't know if this helps, I feel that she was a rescued dog??

Garden of Life - Living Multi Daily Formula 126/caps

Garden of Life - Living Multi Daily Formula 126/caps

Can We Do Better? For all the so-called benefits attributed to isolated and synthetic nutrients and all of the progress we think we have made in improving the health of the nation, there are many health experts who say we can do even better. They note that three of four Americans will develop heart disease and half will die from it. Diabetes is striking baby boomers with a vengeance. About six percent of our population presently has diabetes and many gerontologists believe that percentage will increase significantly as the boomers enter their fifties and sixties. (And they say that diet and nutrition will be crucial to helping persons with diabetes maintain their health and reduce their risk of complications.) Already, some 21 million pre-diabetic Americans experience glucose intolerance, leading to Syndrome X, a condition characterized by high blood pressure and obesity. Some 200,000 Americans die every year from high blood pressure and stroke. One-third of Americans are obese. To get a better picture of what this means in pure numbers of mortality, our current health crisis can be computed into airline crashes; for the number of deaths resulting from heart disease, hypertension, and diabetes, you would have 3,650 jumbo jet crashes a year, assuming there are 300 sickly passengers on each jet, 3,000 people a day dying from heart disease, hypertension, and diabetes alone. Synthetic or isolated nutrients may be better than nothing, but not good enough. Adding them to whole food concentrates is better but still not the way to get our optimal health back. Can Living Multi Help? One of the answers might well be Living Multi . This vitamin and mineral formulation takes us way past USP, food-based or even so-called whole food vitamin and mineral products. It takes us back to a more primitive form of nutrition, one paradoxically far more sophisticated and wondrous in its nutritional offering and health benefits than your typical multi vitamin. dog food allergy in american cocker spaniel?

my dads american cocker spaniel has loose stools and is often sick, she also has itchy ears ,chin and paws. could this be a food allergy and if so how do we find out what she is allergic to and what can we feed her.

if the dog is being fed food with corn or wheat as an ingredient in it then it is very likely food allergies. the symptoms you described sound like allergies
