Can an adult develop a pet or food allergy overnight ?
Posted by: admin / Category: food allergyI haven't eaten anything out of the ordinary in the past month or so and I haven't used any make up or lotions or new detergents or anything like that, but I recently developed a red, itchy rash sometimes accompanied by hives, sometimes not. It goes away when im on benedryl so everyone is tellin me it has to be an allergy but I've never been allergic to anything before. Is it possible for me to just wake up with a brand new allergy one day thats never bothered me before?
Yes, I've recently developed an eczema-type rash from my dishwashing liquid (which I'd used for years). Changing to an organic one took away the rash.
Pay attention to when the rash itches the most, that's how I figured out what was causing mine.

Food allergies are tested by a back scratch test with little pokes on the back
Gluetten Intolerene is tested with blood tests and possibly a colonascopy to rule out celiac

b. What laboratory tests confirmed specific allergies
c. Whether any other family members have food allergies
d. Whether wheat, eggs or peanut butter have been introduced into the infant's diet

just because if other family members have allergies the baby is likely to have the same. also the ones listed in D are the most common allergies. also B can conform if a child has allergies
I am looking for an intolerance test - does anyone know if i can get this done on the NHS and what they do - is it a blood test? also what can they find from this?
I am looking into an intolerance test which doesnt use needles - the use brass bars and see what you react to - more scientific than i just explained it buuuuuuuuuut… has anyone had this done before? they test 100 different foods, plus environmental factors and vitamin and mineral counts…
I am scepticle about it - can they really find out what im allergic/intolerant to just by this - its a homeopathic treatment and although im not into herbal remedies etc it could be of some help - i dont know!

I don't want to rain on your parade but there is no allergy/intolerance test that can detect 100 different foods and vitamins and minerals and environmental factors all at one time… unless you are having Dr.Spock doing the testing. Not even homeopathic therapies can pull that one off. The only tests for unknown allergic reactions are the skin and blood testing techniques. Sorry, but you are going to be seeing more than one needle if you choose the skin test~~~

which is more likely? I've been getting headaches and excess nasal mucous lately. Have already eliminated grains and dairy.
Both are highly allergenic.
You could ask your doctor to test you for allergies to each (or even other foods), or if your reaction is not severe then try eating them separately.
Also headaches and stuffy nose aren't necessarily a food allergy, you could be a little sick from a cold, it could be dryness in your home, or a number of other things. How long have you been having symptoms for?
